Kathmandu. It has been 16 days since the government appointed Yanky Ukayab as the CEO of the Investment Board, but she has not been able to take office.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers held on July 5 had decided to appoint development economist Ukyab as the CEO of the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) for the next four years. However, the official letter regarding the appointment has not yet reached the Investment Board.
According to Sunita Nepal, spokesperson of the Investment Board of Nepal, the process of assuming office has not moved ahead as the board has not received the formal letter appointing the CEO from the government.
“The government has not yet sent an official letter appointing the CEO of the Investment Board. Therefore, the process of assuming the office has not moved forward,” she said.
The appointment of Ukayab has been delayed as the appointment letter has not been received even after more than two weeks of the government’s decision. According to sources, Ukayab is preparing to go to the Investment Board on Monday and take over.
As per the government’s decision, Ukayab will serve as the CEO of the Investment Board for the next four years.
