Kathmandu. In the first month of the current fiscal year 2083/84, Nepal imported electric vehicles (EVs) worth Rs 2.75 billion. According to the statistics of the Department of Customs, imports of various types of electric three-wheelers and other electric vehicles totalled Rs 1.84 billion in the month of July.
During the period, the government collected Rs 1.14 billion in revenue from the import of electric vehicles. According to the data, most of the EVs are imported from China. A total of 1,171 units of unassembled electric three-wheelers were imported from China. Likewise, China imported 517 electric three-wheelers and 489 units of other electric vehicles.
Similarly, 200 electric three-wheelers and 199 other electric vehicles were imported from India. Similarly, another electric vehicle was imported from the United States, according to the data of the Department of Customs.
Among these imported vehicles, the import value of other electric vehicles from China is the highest at Rs 1.23 billion. The government has collected Rs 88.59 crore revenue from this heading.
