Committee seeks written suggestions from FNCCI, CNI and Chamber to resolve problems of private sector 

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The Infrastructure Development Committee of the House of Representatives has sought suggestions for resolving the problems of the private sector and facilitating investment.

The meeting of the Committee held today sought written suggestions from the stakeholders within 15 days on resolving the problems facing the private sector due to the existing Acts, laws and procedures and facilitating investment.TAG_OPEN_div_22

The committee has also decided to seek suggestions from the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) and Nepal-India Chamber of Commerce and Industry.TAG_OPEN_div_20 Likewise, the committee has directed the Investment Board of Nepal (IBN) to furnish clear details on ways to resolve the problems faced by the private sector.

The committee has sought suggestions on the ‘one-door policy’, reducing the hassles of bureaucracy, creating an environment conducive for bringing investment and making it easier for investment and profit to be re-invested.TAG_OPEN_div_18

The committee has also decided to ask the Investment Board to submit to the committee the details of the current status of the projects facilitated or approved under the public-private partnership (PPP) model, the problems seen in the projects and the ways to resolve them.TAG_OPEN_div_16

The committee has also directed the government to submit details within 15 days about the role of the Board in the matter of investment facilitation, coordination and granting permissions to be made in the Investment Board Act and other related legal provisions.TAG_OPEN_div_14 The committee has also asked the committee to submit clear details about the problems seen in project implementation and service delivery and the initiatives to be taken by the committee to resolve these problems.

Ashish Gajurel, chairman of the committee, said that the meeting would take stock of the problems of the private sector and the obstacles seen in the implementation of projects.TAG_OPEN_div_12 He added that the committee would take initiative to resolve the problem by holding further discussions after receiving the required details.
