Birgunj Sugar Mill, which has been closed for the last 27 years, is preparing to reopen (Photos)

Kathmandu. The feasibility study of reopening the historic Birgunj Sugar Mill which has been closed for the past 27 years has begun.

The task force formed by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies inspected the factory on Tuesday and made a technical assessment of the condition of physical infrastructures, machinery and equipment.

The task force formed under the coordination of CDE Shrikant Yadav will submit a detailed report to the government within 15 days. According to the ministry, the government’s move has strengthened the possibility of resumption of the closed Birgunj Sugar Mill.
