Kathmandu. The death toll in the flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district has reached 489. According to the Police Headquarters, the bodies of 489 people have been recovered in different districts till 12 noon on Friday.

According to the District Police Headquarters Naxal, 13 dead bodies were recovered in Rasuwa, 40 in Dhading, 29 in Tanahun, 37 in Nuwakot, 44 in Gorkha, 186 in Chitwan, 112 in Nawalparasi East and 28 in Nawalparasi West.

According to Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Abi Narayan Kafle, 1,545 people have been rescued from the flood-affected areas so far. Of them, 572 were rescued from Rasuwa, 898 from Nuwakot and three from Dhading.

Those injured in the floods have been rescued from different places and brought to Kathmandu. Currently, 87 injured people are undergoing treatment at different hospitals in Kathmandu, according to the police.

Employees of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Customs and Immigration Office have been out of contact after the floods. According to the police, 44 employees of the Nepal Army, 28 of Nepal Police, 13 of the Armed Police Force, 13 of Nepal, 15 of the Customs Office Timure and four of the Immigration Office Timure are still missing.

According to the police, 2,381 people, including the public, are still missing due to the floods. Search and rescue operations have been intensified in the flood-affected areas. Security personnel and concerned authorities are continuing search and rescue operations in the potentially vulnerable areas.
