Kathmandu. After the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa district, the Prime Minister has urged to be cautious of fraud in the name of depositing money in the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund.

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has urged people to be cautious about the use of fake QR codes and bank accounts in the pretext of depositing money in the fund.

The notice issued by the Payment Systems Department of the Rastra Bank has urged the people to take precaution as the money can be collected by giving false details through social media and various means.

Those wishing to deposit money in the relief fund should compulsorily confirm the name of the account and confirm the name of the account while transferring the amount through mobile banking, wallet, connect IPS or any other means.

Similarly, the NRB has urged the public to verify the account number of the recipient before sending the money and not to use the bank account and QR code obtained through any means except the official website or the details made public by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

The central bank has also warned people not to scan unauthorized QR codes, and not to send money through suspicious QR codes received through social media, email and messaging apps. It has also asked not to provide OTP, PIN, password and other sensitive personal details to anyone.

The NRB has suggested that the banks should use the official application while sending money to the relief fund and only the official channels of the banks and financial institutions concerned should be used while sending money to the relief fund and getting information related to online transactions.
