Kathmandu. The Government of Canada has provided 5 million Canadian dollars for the search, rescue and relief of those affected by the recent devastating floods in Nepal. Canada has also pledged an additional 100 million Canadian dollars through the Joint Fund.

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal Shishir Khanal and Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand held a telephone conversation on Tuesday to discuss the damage caused by the floods in Nepal and the situation of the affected people.

On the occasion, Canadian Foreign Minister Anand expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and property due to floods and expressed solidarity with the people of Canada in this hour of calamity.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Khanal thanked the Government of Canada for the support of 5 million Canadian dollars for the search, rescue and relief of the flood and disaster victims. He also thanked the Government of Canada for pledging an additional 100 million Canadian dollars through the Joint Fund.

Minister Khanal informed that the government is mobilizing all available resources for the search, rescue and relief of the flood-affected people. He also informed that necessary efforts are being made to search and rescue the Canadian citizens who have gone missing after the floods.

The recent floods in Nepal have caused huge loss of life and property in various areas. After the disaster, the government is intensifying search, rescue, relief and rehabilitation work in the affected areas.
