Kathmandu. Nepali Congress parliamentary leader Bhishma Raj Angdembe has urged the government to intensify the search for the people who went missing in the Bhotekoshi floods, provide relief to the victims and make the displaced people safe.

Addressing today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, he drew the attention of the government to forward the rehabilitation and reconstruction works simultaneously.TAG_OPEN_div_39

Leader Angdembe said, “This is not the time to campaign. This is the time to save lives. This is not the time to blame. This is the time to fulfill the responsibility. This is not the time to look for political numbers. It is the time to unite the nation and save the lives of the citizens.TAG_OPEN_div_37 ”

Leader Angdembe drew the attention of the government to carry out effective search and rescue of the people trapped in the tunnel, to learn from the experience of rescue and search during yesterday’s earthquake, to listen to the cries of the families of the victims while waiting for rescue, to deal with this disaster under the leadership of the federal government by coordinating with all levels of government, private sector and community, to search for the bodies, identify and manage the bodies.TAG_OPEN_div_35

He also drew the attention of the government to pay attention to transparency and facilitation in relief distribution, rehabilitation and reconstruction, urging the government to form a high-level parliamentary special committee to monitor the government’s works from immediate management of such disasters to long-term rehabilitation, disaster risk mitigation, monitoring the government’s works and provide necessary guidelines.TAG_OPEN_div_33

Leader Angdembe said, “Just because we are with the government in times of disaster does not mean that all the letters made by the government are waived. It does good work, there is support, there is caution and questions. This is not the main help.TAG_OPEN_div_31 ”

} He said that the huge loss of life and property in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other districts due to the massive flood in the Trishuli River via Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa has shocked everyone. Stating that it was a kind of catastrophic tsunami that manifested itself as a flood, leader Angdembe said, “Perhaps, Nepal did not have to suffer so much damage in a moment!”

He expressed his gratitude and respect to the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, local people’s representatives, technical experts, health workers and all those who have been on the front line for search, rescue, relief and security despite limited resources in this difficult situation.TAG_OPEN_div_27

} Leader Angdembe thanked all Nepalis living inside and outside the country for their preparedness and solidarity and support in this national disaster. “We don’t know when and how disaster strikes. I would like to remind that the Congress party has repeatedly drawn the attention of the Nepali Congress party in this House to be prepared for the disaster that can strike at any time,” he said.

The Nepali Congress has said from the very beginning that the ruling party and the opposition should face the disaster without saying ‘we’, and they are with the government. Leader Angdembe said that he had met Prime Minister Shah from the very first day of the flood disaster and drew his attention towards the immediate works.
