Ottawa. Four people have died in a helicopter crash in the Canadian province of Quebec.

Police received a report of the crash at around 2:30 p.m. in the Saint-Brigid-d’Iberville area, about 55 km southeast of Montreal.

The helicopter caught fire after the accident. Rescuers who reached the spot brought the fire under control within about an hour. All four people on board the helicopter died on the spot, police said.

According to the preliminary investigation, there was an emergency problem in the helicopter shortly after take-off. It is said that the helicopter then crashed.

Police have not yet released the details of the helicopter’s ownership, departure, destination and identities of the victims.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has sent an investigation team to the scene to investigate the crash.
