KATHMANDU: Former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana has urged the government to make more security arrangements, saying that the security of himself and his family has increased.

On behalf of him, Ranipokhari’s son Sachindra Shumsher Rana filed an application at the Kathmandu Valley Police Office, Ranipokhari, demanding additional security arrangements.

The letter states that he felt a serious challenge to the security of his family due to the situation in the country and the issues related to peace and security that have surfaced in various media including social media in recent times.

The petitioner states that he felt more insecure due to the responsibilities he had taken in different organs of the state in the past and the judicial decisions he had executed in his capacity as the head of the judiciary.

He said that he had informed the concerned office about some things earlier but the latest situation has made more security necessary.

Stating that the state security bodies have been informed of all the details of his identity, Rana has demanded that the state security should pay special attention to his residence, family and personal security.

He has requested the bodies concerned to make necessary security arrangement in view of the possible security challenges.

Although the petition has requested for additional security arrangements, the details of the decision of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office have not been disclosed yet.
