Kathmandu. Non-life insurance companies have been claimed to the tune of Rs 21 billion due to the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi on August 26.
According to the Insurance Authority, claims amounting to Rs 20.98 billion have been filed in 18 insurance companies.
According to the NEA, 2,180 insured people have claimed the amount.
According to the authority, Himalayan Everest Insurance has received the highest number of claims during this period. The company has received 159 insurance claims worth Rs 6.27 billion.
Similarly, Sanima GIC Insurance has 242 claims worth Rs 3.50 billion, Shikhar Insurance has 401 claims worth Rs 2.99 billion, Sagarmatha Lumbini has 207 claims worth Rs 1.93 billion and Siddhartha Premier has 205 claims worth Rs 1.12 billion.
Similarly, Neco has 240 claims worth Rs 1.1 billion, IGI Prudential has 222 claims worth Rs 83.5 crore, United Ajod has 75 claims worth Rs 82.62 crore, The Oriental has 11 claims worth Rs 82.32 crore, Nepal Insurance has 131 claims worth Rs 561.1 million, Prabhu Insurance has 114 claims worth Rs 50.32 crore and NLG has 110 claims worth Rs 461 million.
Similarly, Star Micro has 22 claims worth Rs 6.47 crore, Trust Micro has 22 claims worth Rs 2.79 crore, Rastriya Insurance Company has 7 claims worth Rs 1.57 million, Protective Micro has 4 claims worth Rs 88 lakh, National Insurance has 2 claims worth Rs 5.3 million and Nepal Micro has 6 claims worth Rs 3.7 million.
According to the NEA, Rs 9.41 billion has been claimed for property insurance, Rs 4.41 billion for engineering and contracting, Rs 3.07 billion for motor insurance, Rs 2.48 billion for transport, Rs 1.36 billion for other insurance and Rs 225.2 million for health insurance.
So far, the insurance companies have paid only Rs 68.48 lakh. Shikhar has paid Rs 26.62 lakh, IGI Rs 22,000, United Ajod Rs 33.14 lakh and NLG Rs 7.50 lakh.
