Flood in Relekhola dam halts power generation

Myagdi. The Relekhola Hydropower Project at Narchyang of Annapurna Rural Municipality-4 in Myagdi district has been closed due to flooding in the dam.

Hume Consult Pvt. Ltd., the promoter of the six-megawatt project, has completely stopped power generation after the dam at the foot of the project was damaged due to floods. According to project chief Philosopher Kafle, the power generation has been completely halted due to rain and landslides from September 22 to 11.

Landslides in Relekhark area have caused flood levels to rise in the dam. The access road to the dam site, which is located in geographically remote and remote areas, has also been blocked due to the landslide, which has made it difficult to operate the project by removing the floods.

TAG_OPEN_div_6 The physical infrastructure of the dam has been damaged. The project has incurred losses as it has not been able to sell electricity. The electricity of the project, which was completed last year, is connected to the central system through the 220 KV Dana substation. The floods and landslides of the Kaligandaki river have damaged the towers of the transmission line and snapped wires.
