Gulmi. The final test of the zipline and sky cycling built for the promotion of adventure tourism at Garjura of Resunga, the main tourist destination of the district, has been successful.
Resunga Municipality has said that with the successful completion of the trial, preparations for the operation of the adventure tourism infrastructure have been completed. The infrastructure constructed by the municipality has a 568-meter-long zipline and a 110-meter-long sky cycling facility. During the test conducted till this morning, about 40 people have gained first-hand experience of zipline and sky cycling.
Laxmi Khanal, who participated in the test, said that it was a pleasant experience to travel through the zipline with a smooth and scenic view. He said that it took about 58 seconds to cross the 568-meter long zipline.
Prakash Bhalami, who participated in the test, expressed happiness that the infrastructure has come into operation despite some delay. Resunga Municipality Mayor Khildhoj Panthi said that zipline and sky cycling have been brought into operation by giving priority to tourism promotion. He said that the arrival of tourists in Resunga will increase further with the operation of adventure tourism infrastructure.
Resunga Municipality Administrative Officer Binod Marasini said that the regular service will be resumed within the next one week. He said that for now, the municipality will manage and coordinate the zipline and sky cycling. The municipality has fixed 600 fees for zipline and 400 for sky cycling.
Situated at an altitude of 3,300 above sea level, Resunga can observe dozens of mountain ranges and panoramic natural scenery, including Machhapuchhre and Dhaulagiri. After reaching a little higher from Resunga Park, one can easily reach the historical and religious places Resunga Yagyashala, Mahapokhari, Siddhasthan, Ramkuwa, Bishnupaduka and Saune, including Kathmandu.
The project was started by Khanal Infra Pvt Ltd, Resunga-9, Gulmi at a cost of Rs 12.5 million.
As a result, the payment was stopped as the test was yet to be done after the completion of the construction work. This type of adventure tourism infrastructure is expected to take a new leap in the tourism development of the district at a time when the arrival of domestic and foreign tourists has increased in Gulmi in recent times.
