Binod Chaudhary to file candidacy for vice-president of Nepali Congress

KATHMANDU: Binod Chaudhary has filed his candidacy for the post of vice-president in the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress.

Chaudhary, who is currently a central member, is contesting for the post of vice-president. Chaudhary, who was unanimously elected to the general convention from Nawalparasi-1, is contesting for the post of vice-president.

He was elected as a central member in the 14th Congress. He wrote on social media:

Hearty congratulations and greetings to all the delegates who actively participated in the 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress!

The country is now looking for youth leadership. From this general convention, the Nepali Congress should establish the youth in the leadership. Also, a new chapter in economic transformation should be started by bringing the leaders who have a clear vision of economic prosperity to the leadership level. I believe that with such leadership, it will be possible to bring about the economic transformation of the country in the coming days.

My participation in the second special general convention of the Nepali Congress was not due to enmity with anyone. I participated in the special convention with respect for the epoch-making message given by the Gen Z movement, solidarity with the people’s aspirations for change, and a clear commitment to hand over leadership to the new generation.

} I had fully dedicated myself to make the special general convention a success with the vision that the Nepali Congress should be built as per the people’s expectations by establishing the youth leadership in the party.

Nepal should not delay its economic transformation any longer. We have gone through many stages of political change, but the pace of economic development, job creation and prosperity has not been as expected. Realizing this reality, I have been continuously collaborating with Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa on the agenda of economic transformation and development.

The economic reforms initiated under the leadership of the Nepali Congress from 1991 to 2051 were of historical and far-reaching importance for Nepal’s economy. The journey taken forward through liberalization, expansion of the private sector and economic reforms opened the doors of new possibilities in Nepal’s economy. At that time, Mahesh Acharya and Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat played an important role in economic reforms.

As the President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, I played a profound role in institutionalizing the economic liberalization of the private sector. But with time, Nepal could not take the expected pace in the race of economic development as it could not take these reforms to the next stage by making them deeper, more comprehensive, and effective.

The need of the hour is to enrich the far-reaching political thinking of BP Koirala and the foundation of economic development laid by Subarna Shumsher Rana. For this, I will make every effort to make his dream come true.

We should move forward with a new thinking, clear vision and result-oriented economic policies, learning from the past achievements and limitations. I firmly believe that strong, institutional and continuous cooperation between the vision of the political leadership and the economic experts and policy-makers who can translate it into practice is essential for the development of the country. Politics and economy should be understood not as separate sectors, but as complementary to the same national development journey.

We now need new economic thinking, clear policies, efficient implementation, accountable governance and result-oriented leadership, not just catchy slogans. This is the time to transform Nepal into a production-oriented, job-creative, innovation-based and competitive economy by integrating the energy of the youth, the aspirations of the new generation and the knowledge of experienced leadership.

With this thinking, belief and strong commitment to implement it in practice, I have filed my candidacy for the post of Vice-President in the ongoing 15th General Convention of the Nepali Congress.

This candidacy is not just for one position—

} To bring the agenda of economic development to the center of politics, to address the aspirations of the youth, to prove in practice the belief that only the Nepali Congress can lead the development of the country through economic transformation and to make the Congress stronger, modern and people-oriented by connecting it with the new generation.

Now the country cannot be transformed by ‘politics for politics’. For this, it is necessary to work on a clear plan for economic prosperity. I am ready to take up the responsibility of economic prosperity.

I heartily request you for your invaluable support, cooperation, suggestions and votes in this campaign. I express my commitment to make sincere efforts to make the Nepali Congress stronger and more people-oriented by keeping economic transformation, good governance and aspirations of the new generation at the center by embracing your trust as a responsibility.
