Power supply likely to be affected for two days in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu. In order to make the electricity supply in the Kathmandu Valley more reliable, quality and sustainable, the capacity of the Matatirtha-Syuchatar 132 KV transmission line is being increased and strengthened. Under this, the power supply in the Kathmandu Valley may be affected due to the installation of new high-capacity wires by replacing the old wires and conductors.

The 132 KV Transmission Line Upgrade Project under the Project Management Directorate of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is replacing the old conductor on the Matatirtha-Syuchatar 132 kV double circuit transmission line with a new one of high capacity. For this purpose, the transmission line will have to be shut down from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturday, October 10 and Sunday.

A high-capacity HTLS conductor is going to be installed in place of the old conductor of low capacity. About four hundred meters of the conductor of one circuit of the double circuit line is yet to be replaced. After the completion of this work, it is expected that the power carrying capacity of the transmission line will be increased and will help in managing the increasing power demand and making the power system more reliable.TAG_OPEN_div_8
