Tanahun. The bridge connecting Ghiring and Dedhgaun, which was swept away by the flooded Kaligandaki River, has come into operation after 18 days.

The flood on September 24 had swept away the access road on both sides of the bridge over the Kaligandaki River linking Ghiring Rural Municipality of Tanahun and Dedhgaun of Baudikali Rural Municipality of Nawalpur.TAG_OPEN_div_14

The repair of the access road to Ghiring of the bridge was carried out by Siddhababa Construction Service, Syangja with the financial and technical support of the Road Division Office, Tanahun through the unit rate agreement. With the resumption of the bridge, it is expected that the movement of people from Ghiring to Nawalpur, Palpa, Syangja, Chitwan and other places via Kaligandaki corridor will be easy and will also provide relief to the transportation of local citizens, passengers and goods.

The iron bridge, which was constructed about TAG_OPEN_div_8 12 years ago, is located near the Kaligandaki corridor connecting Gaindakot-Pipaldanda. Thousands of passengers and hundreds of vehicles have been stranded daily due to the lack of access road to the bridge that is considered the main transit point for movement of Pokhara, Gaindakot and Rampur areas. Rural municipality chair Thapa said that the operation of the bridge has brought relief to the people during Dashain.
