Tehran: Iran on Tuesday put up huge billboards and banners threatening to kill US President Donald Trump.

This has made the pro-government political propaganda in the capital more aggressive.

A huge billboard in Tehran’s busy Engelb Square has the message “We will kill Trump”. It depicts US President Trump sitting with his head bowed inside the jail.

After the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a US and Israeli invasion of Iran on February 28, billboards and propaganda signs criticizing Trump have been put up in various parts of Tehran.

Meanwhile, in recent days, new diplomatic efforts are being made to bring Tehran and Washington to the negotiating table. The aim is to prevent the war in the Middle East from escalating again. The war has led to price increases around the world.

With the crucial midterm elections taking place in the United States on Tuesday, Trump has said that a deal with Iran could be reached. The election is being held at a time when American voters are increasingly dissatisfied with the war with Iran.

Various portraits of Trump are also on display in an open exhibition in the busy Tajris Square in northern Tehran. One of the paintings depicts his face lying on the floor in a pool of blood, while the other depicts his feet above his head.

In another painting, Trump’s face is covered with a bomb. The painting seems to be inspired by Belgian surrealist painter René Magritte’s famous 1964 painting ‘The Son of Man’.

A prison room-like structure has also been built near the exhibition. An artist dressed as Trump stays there all day. The screen next to it shows scenes of the damage caused by the US attack on Iran.

Iran has accused the United States of deliberately targeting civilian areas such as schools and weddings during the war. Iran claims that dozens of people, including women and children, were killed in those attacks.

Since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, there has been a tradition of placing large government-sponsored billboards and graffiti in public places in Iran. Such propaganda materials are used to honor allies, praise military figures, and convey political messages, especially to adversarial countries such as the United States and Israel.
