Securities transactions worth Rs 2,124.91 billion in FY 2081/82

Kathmandu. At a time when some sectors of the economy are slowing down, the second market transaction of securities has set a historic record in the fiscal year 2081/82. Other indices of the market have also improved significantly in the current fiscal year.

According to the Nepal Stock Exchange( NEPSE), securities worth Rs 734.68 billion were traded in the fiscal year 2080/81, while the transaction amounted to Rs 2,124.91 billion in the fiscal year 2081/82. The transaction amount has increased by 189.23 percent compared to the fiscal year 2080/81 BS. Earlier, the highest transaction of Rs 1,454.44 billion was recorded in the fiscal year 2077/78 BS.

Similarly, the market capitalization has increased by 31.05 percent to Rs 4,656.98 billion in mid-July 2082 from Rs 3,553.67 billion in mid-July 2081. At the end of the fiscal year 2081/82, the number of listed companies has reached 272. In this fiscal year, three companies have been removed from the list due to merger and acquisition.

Similarly, four companies have been added through the first public issue. A total of 804.285 million units of shares including 36.5 million units of shares through the first issue, 1.12 million units of shares through additional issue, 43.258 million units of shares added by the government and distributed to the locals, 378.1 million units of collective investment funds and 8.3 million units of institutional bonds have been listed.

Nepal Stock Exchange Limited has thanked the Ministry of Finance, Securities Board of Nepal, other regulatory bodies, trading members, listed companies, merchant bankers, CDS and Clearing Limited, investors, media persons and all stakeholders of the capital market for the encouraging transaction in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS.
