Gorkha. Marking poles and signposts have been added at various places for tourists visiting Manaslu Conservation Area in Northern Gorkha to identify the trekking route and facilitate trekking.

The Manaslu Conservation Area Project Office (MCAP) has added marking poles and signposts at 53 different places along the trekking route in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, said Project Office Chief Santosh Sherchan. According to him, the office has added signposts at 35 places of the trekking route to inform the tourists about the trekking route while marking poles have been added at 16 places of the trekking route.

Marking poles have been added at various places from Larke Bazaar to Bhimthang towards Nubri Valley under the trekking route. A total of 124 marking poles have now been reached from Larke Bazar to Bhimthang. Earlier, there were only 108 marking poles.

Similarly, signposts have been added at 19 places along the trekking route towards Ganesh Mountain, 14 at Nubri Valley and two at Sirdibas.

Chief Sherchan said, “It is easy for the tourists visiting the Manaslu conservation area to reach me through the signpost, the height of the place where they reached, the possible time it will take to reach the next destination and also about the wild animals there.” ’

Chief Sherchan said that it would be easier for tourists to identify the trekking route as the trekking route would be buried in snow during snow from the marking pole placed on the trekking route. In the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS, there is a plan to set up marking poles at 25 different places and sign posts at 35 places.
