Bharatpur. Chitwan: The number of tourists visiting Chitwan National Park has decreased. According to chitwan National Park, the number of tourists has decreased by about 25 percent compared to last year.
According to Avinash Thapa Magar, information officer of the national park, the number of tourists visiting the park has decreased by 75,508 in the fiscal year 2081/82 as compared to the fiscal year 2080/81.
A total of 306,837 tourists visited chitwan national park in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS. According to Information Officer Thapa Magar, a total of 231,329 tourists entered the park in the last fiscal year. Of them, 117,206 were indigenous.
The number of men entering the park is more than the number of women. Similarly, 24,800 people from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries and 89,323 from non-SAARC countries visited the park. Chitwan National Park has received the highest number of tourists in the month of October.
A total of 32,252 people visited the park this month. The lowest number of 7,309 people visited the park. Thapa Magar said that the number of tourists has decreased in the last fiscal year due to road infrastructure and other reasons. He said the number of tourists is expected to increase this fiscal year.
Dhruba Giri, president of Restaurant and Bar Association (REBAN) Sauraha, said the number of tourists visiting Chitwan National Park has come down. He said the number of tourists visiting chitwan has come down due to the closure of night flights at the international airport for some time and bad condition of the road connecting Chitwan with the main city.
He opined that the number of tourists could be increased only if the airport and the main highways could be improved. Domestic and foreign tourists visit Chitwan National Park to study and observe rare wildlife, birds, flora and fauna.
