Kathmandu. Furgelje Sherpa has been elected as the president of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA), an umbrella organization of mountain tourism entrepreneurs. According to the counting of votes held this morning, Sherpa defeated another candidate Kul Bahadur Gurung. Sherpa secured 342 votes while Gurung secured 288 votes, according to the election committee.
Similarly, Ishwori Poudel has been elected as senior vice-president, Mingma Gyabo Sherpa as first vice president, Bodh Raj Bhandari as second vice president and Rajendra Lama as general secretary. Likewise, Chandan Thapa has been elected as secretary, Ngima Nurbu Sherpa and Sumi Lama as treasurer.
Likewise, Madhav Kumar Dhamala, Kedar Neupane, Thupden Sherpa, Gokul Thapa, Mulal Gurung, Dendi Sherpa, Bikram Karki, Rinje Sherpa, Devendra Dangol, Diki Sherpa and Nisha Bhote have been elected as members.
