Malekhu. If you look at the pitch, somewhere the slope, you may see what a good road has been built. But in places, the problems caused by landslides, dust, mud and potholes feel that the passengers are not seen again.
When there is rain on the Prithvi Highway, which is in the process of expansion, it is not known when the road will be blocked by landslides. It is necessary to avoid stone pelting falling from the walls of the dozer.
Bikash Shrestha, a microbus driver from Kathmandu to Dhading, said, “Today, we have to take our eyes to the landslide site rather than the potholes on the road. It has been raining continuously in the region since Wednesday. Small landslides are blocking and operating roads at various places. The road has not been blocked for hours. Nagdhunga-Naubise road section of Tribhuvan Highway and Naubise-Muglin road section of Prithvi Highway are risky due to rain.
Most of the roads have been shaken and dusted due to small landslides that have fallen from the walls cut to widen the road. It is difficult to drive all vehicles, big and small, due to the potholes in the remaining area after half the work. Subash Hamal, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, said, “The Prithvi Highway is risky at this time. However, there is no way to walk. ’
Landslides and landslides have blocked the road. Possible accidents can be avoided only if everyone on the road follows the traffic rules carefully.
It is very difficult for motorcycles and scooters to cross this road. Most places are dusty when it’s sunny. If it rains, the same dust turns into mud and becomes slippery.
Suraj Shrestha, police inspector at the District Traffic Police Office, Gajuri, said, “We are working round-the-clock to avoid any inconvenience, no disaster, and loss of life and property.”
Landslides in Nagdhunga Naubise area have not been completely stopped. The road from Krishnabhir to Muglin is prone to landslides at any time. On the 96-kilometer highway from Nagdhunga to Muglin, the road becomes one-way all the time. According to Shrestha, police have been deployed on both sides of the under-construction bridge and the narrow places where vehicles can be one-way.
There is no exact data on how many vehicles enter and exit Kathmandu every day on the Nagdhunga check post Prithvi Highway. According to police, 13,000 vehicles ply daily and up to 20,000 during festivals.
