224 people get permission to climb Manaslu

Gorkha. A total of 224 climbers have taken permission to climb Mt Manaslu in the autumn (September, October and November) this year. According to the data received from the Department of Tourism, 224 people from 17 teams from different countries have taken permission to climb manaslu at 8,163 meters high. This figure is as of Friday.

According to the Department, 169 men and 55 women have taken permission to climb Mount Manaslu. Revenue of Rs 94.32 million has been collected from them.

This season, the highest number of climbers climb Manaslu. As of Friday, only one person has taken permission to climb Mt Everest. Only two people have taken permission to climb Lhotse.

Other climbers have taken permission to climb mountains below 8,000 meters. According to the data, 11 people have taken permission to climb the 7,855-meter-high Nuptse. A total of 15 people have taken permission to climb the 6,395-metre-high Layul.

In the same season last year, 401 people had taken permission to climb Mt Manaslu. Bir Bahadur Lama of Samagaun of Chumnubri rural municipality-1 said that rope fixing work is currently underway in Manaslu Mountain. Climbers have also started arriving at Samagaon. The number of climbers coming here through Lamjung, Manang and Larkepass is very high. Some even come by helicopter.

According to the department data, 43 climbers from China have taken permission to climb the mountain. A total of 25 climbers from Poland, 23 from Russia, 23 from Nepal, 16 from the US, 13 from Japan, 12 from France and 10 from Canada have taken permission.

Director and Information Officer of the Department of Tourism, Liladhar Awastha, said that the number of climbers coming to get permission for autumn will gradually increase. “The season has finally begun. Now in a few days, many climbers will come to get permission. Earlier last year, 401 people had taken permission to climb Manaslu this season.
