Kailali. The Kailali Customs Office, which was damaged by arson and vandalism during the Genji demonstration, has resumed its regular service from today.
Since it takes time to operate the service from the damaged customs office, the service flow has been started from the building used for vehicle parking and vehicle repair. According to the Customs Office, the service was operated from the building located at the west-south entrance of the Customs Office with limited resources.
Information Officer at the Customs Office, Khem Prasad Aryal, said that the building has been used to provide banking counters and import and export approvals.
The vandalism and arson at the customs office destroyed the administrative building, staff quarters, vehicles, important files, data and other materials, he added. He said, “We have started the service from the building by operating the office using the available resources.” ’
Kailali Customs Office has resumed import and export operations from today. Petroleum tankers were imported to Dhangadhi on Thursday itself at the request of Nepal Oil Corporation Dhangadhi.
The import and export of other essential goods has been fully resumed by the Kailali Customs Office from today, Information Officer Aryal said. According to the office, 25 cargo trucks entered Nepal via the customs office today alone.
