Baitadi. KATHMANDU — With Dashain approaching, the main festival of Hindu Nepalis, many Nepalis who had gone to India in search of employment have started returning home. People who had gone for employment from various transit points in the far-west including Baitadi have started returning home.
According to the District Police Office, the number of passengers returning home from different transit points in the far-western region including Baitadi has increased with the increase in the number of passengers. Baitadi District Police Office spokesperson and Police Inspector Baldev Badu said the number of Nepalis returning home from Jhulaghat – the border with India is increasing. According to him, the Nepalis who had gone to the bordering areas of India in search of seasonal employment have started returning home for festivals.
Chief of Area Police Office Jhulaghat and Senior Sub Inspector Ganga Ram Tamata said that around 70 to 80 people have returned home from Jhulaghat checkpoint every day since the past few days. Previously, this number was around 10-15 per day.
It is said that people who had gone abroad for employment including India have started returning home. The people who entered India in search of employment after celebrating the Bishu festival have been returning through the transit point, said Senior Sub Inspector Tamatta. According to him, people return to their villages during Dashain as the family deities, fairs and festivals are held in the far-west region.
The number of Nepalis entering the country through Trinagar of Kailali, Gaddachauki of Kanchanpur and Pulghat of Darchula is increasing day by day. Police Spokesperson Badu said that the security plan has been further systematized in view of the Dashain and Tihar festivals. “We are working on a security plan. Preparations are underway to set up help desks in border areas, highways and main markets. ’
