Lalitpur. The building of Police Division, Bungmati (Bhaisepati), which was damaged during the Jenji agitation on September 24, has been reconstructed and handed over.
The reconstruction committee formed under the coordination of local Suman Mahat on September 26 in collaboration with the locals and the community completed the construction and handed over the building structures to the police personnel amidst a formal program here today.
The 11-member committee formed on September 11 helped rebuild the quake with the assistance of Rs 4,954,068 provided by 200 locals, entrepreneurs, organizations and social workers on their own will, said coordinator Mahat.
Inaugurating the newly reconstructed building, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Dan Bahadur Karki said the silence of good and good people would give good people a favor. He commended the efforts of the locals to assist in the reconstruction of the building of the Division to serve as the representative of the nation for peace and security.
“Nepal Police is the force that works in difficult situations, a lot of casualties were inflicted during the agitation and a lot of blood has already been shed in the country. Stating that the loss of public property was very unfortunate, he stressed that there should be no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to book.
On the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hobindra Bogati expressed gratitude to all who helped with heart, words and deeds to restore the influence of police displaced by the tragic incident.
Information Officer and Superintendent of Police at the District Police Range, Lalitpur, Chakra Joshi, said that some weapons were looted from Pulchowk and Harisiddhi during the agitation and the same weapons are yet to be recovered. As many as 21 police offices in Lalitpur district were damaged in the agitation.
According to Division Chief Police Inspector Sashidhar Sharma, Nepal Women Association central member Niru Khadka handed over 54 sets of tracksuits and other materials to the police after they were robbed of their clothes from the agitation on September 7.
Lalitpur metropolis-18 chair Damodar Khadka, ward-21 chair Rabindra Maharjan, ward-22 chair Sagar Tuladhar, ward-25 chair Daulat Kumar Khatri and local distinguished persons along with local dignitaries have helped in the speedy reconstruction.
