Bodies of 2 climbers found in Pangbari mountain, brought to Samagaun by helicopter

Gorkha. Gorkha: The bodies of two Italian climbers who have been missing for the past five days have been found on Mount Pangbari in Gorkha district.

The deceased have been identified as Stefano Farinato, 67, and Alessandro Gaputo, 37, of Italy, said Raj Kumar Shrestha, information officer at the District Police Office. The bodies of both of them were found buried in the snow, he said.

The body of the climber has been airlifted to Samagaun. Three Italian nationals and a Nepali helper were stranded at the first camp and base camp on Wednesday while returning from the Pangbari mountain. They are said to be stranded due to snowfall while returning after they could not climb Mt Farinato and Gaputo.

Italian national Welter Parlino, 65, who was stranded with them, was rescued by helicopter on Sunday, DSP Shrestha said. He was accompanied by Nepali nationals Pemba Renji Sherpa, Dawa Chhiri Sherpa and Pasang Tamang who were also flown to Kathmandu for treatment on the same day.
