Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has estimated the cost of renovating the roof of Kumari Bahal (Kumarighar) at an estimated cost of Rs 125,47,864.

According to KMC, this cost was incurred for the renovation of shingles, walls, timber and other components related to the roof. The issue was shared in a meeting chaired by deputy mayor Sunita Dangol among the officials of the partner offices to implement the report of the committee formed to study the technical part of the roof of Kumarighar roof.

After taking feedback from the stakeholders on technical, social and other aspects of the renovation of Kumarighar, Deputy Mayor Dangol stressed the need of renovating the roof of Kumari Ghar before the adverse weather set in, directing the Hanumandhoka Palace Conservation Programme to expedite the renovation process. The committee was formed on August 5 to study the renovation of the roof of the Kumari Ghar after the roof of the house leaked during the rainy season.

Some of the Dhams and Meths are in a position to leave. Some of the insects have eaten them and made small holes. Timber in many places is in a state of disrepair. The graffiti on the second floor has to be preserved.

Most of the wooden components except the Dham are not made of agarkha but are used wood, so it needs to be renovated immediately. Architect Amit Bajracharya, a member of the committee, informed the meeting.

According to Bajracharya, the roof has collapsed all around. The axis has broken and fallen, the iron belt has slipped. There is no iron belt anywhere. The fists are dry. The shrimp are gone. Tundal has fallen and shattered. There are no nerves or even nothing. Most of the rats need to be replaced.
