Kathmandu. Now, Nepalese transit to Hong Kong from Nepal will no longer need a transit visa. The Hong Kong government has announced that it will no longer require a transit visa for passengers with Nepali passports to come into effect from November 15.

The Consulate General of Nepal in Hong Kong has informed that the transit visa is not required while traveling from Nepal to other countries and from other countries on the condition of staying inside the transit zone due to continuous diplomatic initiatives and requests.

Since June 2005, Hong Kong International Airport has been requiring Nepali passport holders to obtain a transit visa. Hong Kong International Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world, but due to the need for a transit visa, Nepali citizens have faced difficulties in transiting to Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong government has removed the mandatory provision of transit visa, which is expected to ease travel for Nepali passport holders travelling via Hong Kong transit.
