Kathmandu. Locals and heritage conservationists have protested against the construction of concrete by adding cement to hanumandhoka durbar area where the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) started the work of removing concrete through underground water recharge method months ago.

It was said that the metropolitan city would make ‘water rechargeable’ structures by removing old stones and concrete to expand the road under the heritage area. However, criticism has erupted after a scene surfaced in the same area where cement was being added directly without removing the old blacktop (pitch).

Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol had personally visited the site following complaints from locals and stakeholders. Since then, the concrete of the palace area has been removed again.
