Gorkha. A total of Rs 150 million has been collected from mountaineering Manaslu in the district. According to the Department of Tourism, a total of 1.122 million US dollars (Rs 157.64 million) has been collected from 374 mountaineering permits this year.
A total of 374 mountaineers of 31 groups have taken permission to climb the 8,163-metre high Mt Manaslu this year, Department Director Himal Gautam said. Of them, 95 are females and 279 are males. A total of Rs 190 million was collected from the climbers who had taken permission to climb 42 different mountains. Out of this, about Rs 16 crore has been collected from Manaslu. Of the total 802 climbers, 374 have taken permission to climb Manaslu.
Only four people had taken permission to climb the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. A total of Rs 4,212,375 has been collected from them. According to the Department, 10 climbers have taken permission to climb Dhaulagiri above 8000 meters while two climbers each have taken permission for Lhotse, Makalu and Chou Yu.
Manaslu, the eighth highest mountain in the world and the seventh highest mountain in Nepal, is located in Samagaun of Chumnubri Rural Municipality-1. In this season, the number of climbers is more than other mountains.
