Mustang. MUSTANG: The number of foreign tourists visiting the religious and touristic district of Mustang has increased.
According to the National Trust for Nature Conservation, Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), the number of foreign tourists has increased by 25,403 in 2025 compared to 2024.
It is stated that tourist arrivals in 2025 have increased by 18.71 per cent in comparison to the last year. According to Rajesh Gupta, chief of ACAP Jomsom office, a total of 161,122 foreign tourists visited Nepal from January to December 31 of this year. According to him, a total of 135,719 foreign tourists had visited Mustang in 2024.
Last year, 132,847 tourists from SAARC countries and 28,275 tourists from other countries visited Nepal. Before this, 109,549 foreign tourists from SAARC countries and 26,170 foreign tourists from other countries visited Nepal.
According to ACAP chief Gupta, the number of foreign tourists from SAARC countries has increased by 23,298 and 2,105 from other countries in the 12 months of 2025. In this way, the number of tourists to SAARC has increased by 17.57 percent and by 7.44 percent to other countries.
The number of domestic and foreign tourists is increasing in the mountainous district of Mustang. However, due to the impact of the Jenji agitation on September 7 and 24, the number of foreign tourists has not increased as expected, according to ACAP chief Gupta.
Although the number of foreign tourists is expected to increase by around 30 percent by 2025, the number of tourists in September, October and November is less which is the expected increase. The number of foreign tourists decreased by 3,638 in September 2025, 854 in October and 70 in November as compared to 2024.
ACAP chief Gupta said that in 2025, the number of tourists increased from January to August and the end of December.
A large number of Indian tourists visit Tin. According to ACAP chief Gupta, 82 per cent tourists from SAARC countries and 18 per cent tourists from other countries are from other countries.
