Kathmandu. The hearing on the habeas corpus writ filed by medical entrepreneur Durga Prasain is taking place at the Supreme Court (SC) today. The writ petition was assigned to be heard in a single bench of Justice Kumar Regmi.

Advocate Suresh Bohara had filed a writ petition at the Supreme Court on behalf of Prasai after the security personnel arrested him from his residence in Bhaktapur. The petitioner has demanded his immediate release, arguing that he was detained illegally.

On Sunday, the Bhaktapur District Administration Office had given permission to the police to investigate the case by keeping him in custody for five days. Prasain, who was released on appearance bail on February 9 on the charge of electronic crime, was arrested again on February 17.

He was released on February 23 on the order of Supreme Court Justices Manoj Kumar Sharma and Meghraj Pokharel. But he was re-arrested four days after being released by the Supreme Court.
