Kathmandu. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump held a telephonic conversation on Monday to discuss the situation in the Middle East and keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.
“I had a productive exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East,” Modi said in a X post. ”
“India stands for de-escalation of tensions and restoration of peace. It is essential for the whole world to ensure that the Strait of Hormuz is open, safe and accessible. We have agreed to remain in touch in our efforts for peace and stability. ”
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore confirmed the phone call between the two leaders on Tuesday, saying, “The two leaders discussed the ongoing situation in the Middle East and the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open.” ”
On March 21, Modi spoke to Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian on regional developments. He reiterated the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and ensuring that shipping routes remain open and secure.
