According to Shyamji Bhandari, chief of the project, the tree cutting has started in the national forest of Chitwan district, which lies under the route of Damauli-Bharatpur 220 kV transmission line. An agreement was reached with the Department of Forest and Soil Conservation for the construction of towers of the transmission line and to remove the trees and forest land in Chitwan and Tanahun districts.
92 million transmission lines will be constructed in Tanahun and Chitwan. Bhandari said that the work has moved ahead with the government getting the right to use 7 hectares of forest land and obtaining permission to remove 9,127 tree poles from there. The Department of Forest and Soil Conservation recently signed an agreement with Tanahu Hydropower Limited for the construction of tower of Damauli-Bharatpur 220 KV transmission line and to remove the trees and forest land in Chitwan and Tanahun districts.
KEC International Limited, the construction contractor of this package, has completed the installation of 78 towers and installation of 69 towers out of 94 towers along the Damauli-Bharatpur 220 KV transmission line. Bhandari said that the overall progress of this package has been 76 percent.
The Tanahun Hydropower Project is working in three packages. Under package one, the construction of dam and other structures is being carried out by Songda Kalika JV. Bhandari said that 54 percent progress has been made in this package. Construction of hill erosion, access road, temporary dam and two diversion tunnels have been completed for the construction of the main dam.
The Seti River was diverted on November 5, 2080 for the construction of the main dam. The construction of temporary dams in the upper and lower riparian areas of the main dam was completed in May 2081.
Sino Hydro Corporation is constructing the power house and related equipments under Package-2. Bhandari said that civil construction of most of the structures has been completed and digging for the construction of underground structures has been completed by this period. The progress of this package has been 73 percent with the completion of major concreting works of powerhouse, cable tunnel, search tank, tailrace and other structures.
According to Bhandari, the civil work of the powerhouse has almost been completed while the electromechanical work is underway. The works like roofing and draining water are going on in the powerhouse.
