Mahendranagar. The hike in the price of petroleum products and the problem in supply have affected the works of big development projects in the far-western region.
Contractors are said to be working on the fuel they have in stock, but they are facing problems to move ahead due to the increase in the price of fuel and shortage. Ram Kumar Dev, chief of the Seti Highway Project, said that the work on the south section of the Seti Highway (Tikapur-Lode-Chainpur-Taklakot road project) is almost to be halted.
} “The stock of fuel with the contractors has run out and now the work is on the verge of stopping,” he said, “The big equipment used to open the track has also stopped.” The 204-kilometer project was started in 2074 BS. Under the project, 35 kilometers track is yet to be opened. A total of 10 kilometers of the road has been blacktopped so far. Under the project, works are being carried out in Doti, Achham and Kailali under different packages, said Project Chief Dev.
