Kathmandu. The Supreme Court (SC) has scheduled the hearing on the contempt of court case filed against Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) today.
A division bench of Justices Hari Prasad Phuyal and Shanti Singh Thapa is hearing the case. The contempt of court case filed by advocate Barsha Kumari Jha has been filed today.
Jha had filed a contempt of court case against Jha for his statement of not disobeying the court order. At that time, Shah had deployed the Metropolitan Police in the hall saying that the film would not be allowed to run in Nepal until the dialogue was removed from the film with the word ‘Bharat Ki Beti’ included in the movie Adipurush.
The Patan High Court had issued an interim order against the government’s decision to ban the screening of Hindi films.
At the time, Balen had said that he would not obey the court’s order on the issue of sovereignty and independence. “When it comes to the sovereignty and independence of the country, I will not abide by any law or court,” Balen wrote on social media. ’
