Persa. Birgunj: Electricity and internet services have been disrupted due to the expansion of roads in the main market area of Birgunj. The electricity and internet services in Hetauda have been affected after the Road Division Hetauda started demolishing houses and huts with the use of dozers and excavators.

The disruption of electricity and internet services has hampered daily activities and affected normal life. Power supply and internet services have been affected from 5:00 am to 4:30 pm in the Gandakchowk-Miteri Bridge section of Birgunj. Locals say there is uncertainty about when the electricity and internet services will be restored.

Parshuram Kalwar, a local trader of Birgunj Metropolis-6, said that electricity and internet services have been affected in course of the road expansion. “Normal life has been affected due to disruption of electricity and internet services since this morning”, he said, adding that the local administration has expanded the road without necessary preparations. There is a shortage of water going to the toilet as there is no electricity and there is no motor and water cannot be drawn from the borewell. ”

According to Bijaya Mahato, chief of Nepal Electricity Authority’s Birgunj Distribution Centre, the regular supply would be affected in course of the expansion of the Miteri Bridge to Gandak canal road. “The power supply is likely to be irregular from today till April 20,” he said, adding that the maintenance work has been going on since early morning as the repair works are expected to take more time. He also called for patience as the power supply would be affected.
