277 consumers blacklisted for failing to pay electricity bills

Chitwan. Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Distribution Centre Bharatpur has blacklisted 277 consumers in the current fiscal year. The central government has blacklisted the consumers who have not paid electricity bills for a long time.

Centre’s information officer Nandaram Bista said that Rs 10,04,17,381 dues are yet to be collected from them. According to him, action has been initiated against those who have not paid their dues for a long time by blacklisting them. The Centre has disconnected power supply to 1,826 consumers in this fiscal year to clear the dues. He said that the power supply of customers who have not paid electricity bills even for six months has been disconnected.

The center currently has 74,876 customers. He further informed that they are yet to collect dues of Rs 490.41 million from these customers. He said that the office has been disconnecting the line and informing the service recipients to recover the dues. “The employees are working regularly to recover the dues,” he said. ”
