KATHMANDU: The government has continued the work of clearing the river banks and vulnerable public and government land in the Kathmandu Valley today.

The government team has been working in the area since early morning to demolish the remaining structures and vacate the land. The evacuation of the risky settlements in Gothatar Buddha Chowk of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality Ward 8 and Manohara Tole of Ward 9 of Kathmandu has started.

The security personnel had helped in the evacuation and transportation of the belongings of the people there before demolishing the physical structures in the settlement. After the demolition of the structures in this area, the remaining river banks and risky public and government land in Gairigaun of Kathmandu-9 and Shantinagar in Ward-31 will be vacated.

Yesterday, the land at Thapathali in Kathmandu Ward No. 11 was vacated. The land was vacated peacefully and amicably.

So far, 214 families have come in contact with the government during the evacuation of the settlements. They have been provided accommodation and food in various hotels for the time being.
