Kathmandu. Jyotsna Shrestha Subba, vice-president candidate of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), said that the government’s tendency to detain businessmen without completing the investigation has had a negative impact on the business environment. He said that such actions without being proven guilty have increased insecurity among businesses and reduced business confidence.

She urged the government to take action against those found guilty only after completing the investigation process. “The government should first listen to the businessmen and then lock them down,” she said.

Stating that the current situation has weakened the investment-friendly environment, Subba said that the government should be serious to ensure safe and predictable business environment. According to him, because a businessman represents not only his own but also thousands of jobs, production and overall economic activity, such behavior can affect the overall economy.

She also stressed the need for all entrepreneurs to unite and raise voice on such issues. She also stressed the need for the business community to present their views in a fair, consistent and responsible manner.
