Kathmandu. The MCA Nepal (MCA) has formally inaugurated the up-gradation of the 40-km Dhankhola-Lamahi road section along the East-West Highway. For the first time in Nepal, advanced construction techniques such as Full Depth Reclamation and Superpave Asphalt are being used for the upgrade and maintenance of this road.
By building stronger and more durable roads, reusing existing asphalt, and minimizing environmental impact, this approach will help make investments in road maintenance more reliable and cost-effective in the long run. The project will also construct a 7-meter-wide carriageway on both sides of the road and a two-and-a-half-meter wide soldier.
Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chet Narayan Acharya, while addressing the inauguration ceremony of the road section, appreciated the use of modern technology like FDR and Superpave to ensure good quality and durability of the road. “This is an important step forward for our province and its people, who depend on this highway every day. The upgradation of this road section will not only make travel safer and more reliable, but will also create new opportunities for local businessmen, farmers and entrepreneurs.”
Similarly, Chargé d’affaires of the United States to Nepal, Scott Urban, said, “Today’s inauguration of upgrading of the Dhankhola-Lamahi road section is an important milestone in the context of Nepal-India partnership between the United States and the United States. Through the MCC Nepal Compact, we are investing in high-quality, sustainable infrastructure that reduces transportation costs, enhances security, and connects communities to markets and opportunities. ” he said. “This project reflects our confidence in Nepal’s future and our joint commitment to sustainable economic growth. ’

This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to building resilient infrastructure and expanding economic opportunities for our communities. I would like to express my appreciation for the efforts of all involved and hope that this important project will be completed on time. ’
“Today’s significant step reflects MCC’s commitment to help Nepal build robust and cost-effective infrastructure, using cutting-edge technologies that ensure long-term performance,” said Sanjay Poudel, MCC’s Deputy Director for Resident Population.
Khadga Bahadur Bista, Executive Director of MCA Nepal, said, “The initiation of upgrading of Dhankhola-Lamahi road section is an important step in the context of the implementation of the road maintenance project under the MCC Nepal Compact. MCA Nepal is committed to completing the project in an efficient, transparent manner and with the highest quality. “I would like to express my gratitude to the Government of Nepal, the Millennium Challenge Corporation and our key stakeholders—the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, the Department of Roads, and the MCA-Nepal Board of Directors for their continued support.” ’
