Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Teachers’ Federation has expressed its support for the government’s decision of giving a holiday (Saturday and Sunday) in educational institutions and urged all sides concerned to implement it.
The meeting of the Council of Ministers had decided to extend the government office hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm from April 6 by giving holidays on Saturdays and Sundays in all bodies including civil service and educational institutions from April 6 due to difficulty in supply of petroleum products.
FNJ President Laxmi Kishor Subedi and General Secretary Tula Bahadur Thapa issued a joint press release today. Teachers and school staff have been urging the students to adjust the curriculum as per the new holiday arrangements.
The FNJ has demanded to bring the School Education Act at the earliest in a way to resolve all the problems of teachers and school employees including permanent, temporary relief, contract, former higher school, teaching learning grant, child development, special education as per the agreement reached with them in the past. The Federation has also expressed concern over the reduction of teachers’ posts in Solukhumbu and Siraha among other districts, removal of service and unsuitable transfer in different pretexts.
