Kathmandu. Laminar, a company that manufactures fully vitrified tiles in Nepal, has launched its new product ‘GermSafe’, an antibacterial tile series.

The new technology tile was unveiled on the occasion of ‘Nepal Medical Show 2026’ held at Bhrikutimandap.

According to the company, the efficacy of GermSafe has been independently tested as per ISO 22196 (JIS Z 2801) standards by Intertek India, a NABL accredited laboratory. The test showed an R value of 3.58, which means that bacterial pressure can drop by more than 99.9% within 24 hours.

The test, conducted under the jurisdiction of an internationally accredited laboratory (ISO/IEC 17025), has confirmed its high antibacterial activity.

GermSafe tile is produced under Nepal Standard NS 617 in Group B LA (Fully Vitrified Class) having water absorption of 0.08% or less.

This dense, porous structure structurally limits the ability of microorganisms to proliferate and survive. According to the company, the antibacterial ingredients used in GermSafe are fired into the tile glaze during the production process. The company claims that the coating or film applied only to the surface will weaken over time, and that such a method will improve the performance of the surface in the long run.

The range is available in glazed vitrified tiles (matte and glossy) and full-body homogeneous forms. It is especially useful in areas requiring high hygiene such as hospitals, clinics, pathology laboratories, commercial kitchens, hotels, and residential uses.
