Kathmandu. Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC) Gunakar Bhatta has said that the government should be very careful while changing and implementing the tax policy.

He said this at an interaction programme organized by the Society of Economic Journalists of Nepal (SEJON) entitled ‘Budget to Lay the Foundation: What is the Way and How?’.

He said that the account management is in a bit of a complicated situation now. He said that there are expectations now and those expectations also need to be managed properly.

He also informed that discussions are underway to reach the fifth stage after passing through various stages of industrial regulation.

“It’s not through excessive economic growth or imbalanced fiscal balances, as well as extreme measures like creating too much money or cutting taxes too much or raising too much,” he said. “There is a need to take a balanced path between all this,” he said.

“We need to think deeply to achieve extraordinary economic growth,” he said. At the same time, care should be taken to ensure that the financial system is not imbalanced. ’’

“Money creation is not so much at the moment, but we also need to evaluate what the potential implications could be if we create a large amount of money in the future,” he said.
