Head. The incessant rain has washed away a temporary diversion constructed in the Kamala River linking Siraha and Dhanusha. The temporary diversion constructed as an alternative to the bridge being constructed here under the Postal Highway has been swept away by the flood this morning.
Hundreds of vehicles and passengers have been stranded in the middle of the road since Thursday night after the heavy rain caused damages again. A diversion was brought into operation after repairing the damage caused by incessant rain a few days ago.
According to Assistant Chief District Officer Chet Raj Baral, there is no situation to repair the river at present as the water level in the river is high. “There is a lot of water flow towards the west. Once the water level recedes, the construction of the dam will be forwarded using the JCB of the municipality,” he said.
Locals have been facing problems for years due to the inordinate delay in the construction of the bridge over the Kamala River. In the absence of the bridge, people are compelled to risk their lives risking their lives to cross the East-West Highway or use the East-West Highway during the rainy season.
