Kathmandu. The election of the new leadership of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) is taking place today.
The senior vice-president of the federation automatically becomes the president. Anjan Shrestha will automatically become the current senior vice-president. Senior vice-president Shrestha will lead the FNCCI as the future president.
The election for the post of vice-president and executive committee members will take place today. The election is taking place for 73 posts including four vice-presidents.
A total of 137 businessmen are in the fray for 73 office-bearers. Competition will be held for the posts of district, town, commodity and associate group while the election of senior vice-president, woman vice-president and treasurer will be held separately.
Incumbent president Chandra Dhakal and senior vice-president Anjan Shrestha are in the fray for the election.
More than 2,000 people will vote in the election which will be held from 8 am to 4 pm, the election committee said. The results of the election will be announced on Wednesday. Out of the four vice-presidents, 2 will be elected from the district town, 1 from the associate and 1 vice-president from the substantive category.
Similarly, there are 1,850 voters in the association, 129 in the district town, 107 in the commodity association, 17 in the commodity federation, eight in the binational and 12 in the founder’s category.
