Kathmandu. Sarbesh Joshi, the then managing director of Smart Telecom, has been arrested. The CIB team arrested Joshi on charges of cheating and criminal breach of trust.

Joshi was arrested from Khursanitar of Kathmandu on Monday. After Smart Telecom did not renew its license as per the rules, its license was automatically canceled from April 17, 2080 as per the sub-section (5) of Section 25 of the Telecommunications Act, 2053.

After the cancellation of the license, Nepal Telecommunication Authority took control of all the assets, physical infrastructures, structures and network of the company as per Rule 18 of the Telecommunication Service Provider Asset Management Regulations, 2079.

Joshi has been arrested on the charge of fraud and criminal breach of trust by working with the intention of violating the rights of the government to the property and structures under the control of the government.
