Golyan Group pledges to provide Rs 4.80 lakh annual educational scholarship to children of Jenji martyrs, Rs 1 million health insurance to parents

Kathmandu. Golyan Group has fulfilled its commitment to provide educational scholarships and health insurance to the Genji martyr families.

In the first phase, 31 children of 22 martyrs were provided educational scholarships and in the second phase, the group signed an agreement to provide health insurance worth Rs 1 million annually to 43 parents of 22 martyrs.

The government had declared 45 of those killed in the Genji movement on September 23 and 24 as martyrs. Golyan Group, through a press release on October 24, had announced that it would take responsibility for the education and health of the martyr’s families. Accordingly, the Golyan Group has provided educational scholarship program to the children in the first phase to be implemented from 2082 BS.

A total of 31 children of 22 martyrs are enrolled in the educational scholarship. The students are provided with an educational scholarship of Rs 40,000 per month and a maximum of Rs 4,80,000 per year. The students are currently studying at Euro School in Kathmandu, Trijyoti Secondary School in Kathmandu, Golden Peak School in Kathmandu, DAV Sushil Kedia Vishwa Bharati School in Lalitpur, Green Field World School in Jhapa, Small Heaven Model School in Chitwan, Early Childhood Academy in Pokhara, Scholars Home Boarding High School in Butwal, Miniland Secondary School in Sunsari and School of Scholars in Lahan.

The scholarship includes monthly tuition fee, lunch fee, hostel fee, transportation fee, school admission fee, administrative fee, book and stationery fee, school uniform fee, among others.

Health insurance has been provided to the families of martyrs who are not included in the educational scholarship. Under this scheme, the parents of martyrs will be provided with lifelong health insurance worth Rs 10 lakhs annually.

Akshay Golyan, Chairman and Managing Director of Golyan Group, said that the government has taken responsibility for the education and health of the family members of the martyrs. “Their sacrifice has started a new system in the country, the country has got a change,” he said, adding, “Centuries of sacrifice has no value, we have only taken the responsibility to fulfill the dreams of martyrs for their families and children.” ’

Stating that the commitment made to the education of the martyrs’ children and the health of their parents is long-term, he said that all should work together to fulfill the dreams of martyrs. “We will provide health insurance to the parents of martyrs who do not need educational support to ensure their long-term health and security,” he said.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Jyoti Gaire, Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications of Golyan Group, said that the company has supported the martyr families in the education and health programs with the objective of ‘One family, one responsibility’.

“A child is not only capable with good education, he can also contribute to his family, society and the whole country,” she said, adding, “Health insurance will reduce the health burden of the parents of martyrs who lost support after the death of their son. ’

Narayan Shrestha, father of martyr Dhiraj Shrestha, who is also the chairman of Genji Martyrs Family Welfare Society, expressed gratitude for the support provided by Golyan Group in honour of the martyrs. “Our sons sacrificed their lives for good governance, and Golyan recognised their contributions,” he said. ’

Ganesh Prasad Chaulagain, treasurer of Jenji Martyrs Family Welfare Society and father of martyr Shreem Chaulagain, said that the group has fulfilled the promises made in the time of grief. “In fact, even the government has not been able to do so much in the field of education and health, but the Golyan Group has selflessly provided support,” he said, “Now the government formed on the foundation of the Genji movement will play a role in making the support received from the Golyan Group more effective.” ’

Martyr Gaurav Joshi’s maternal uncle Jagadish Bhatta said that the Golyan Group has provided guardianship to the martyrs by taking important responsibility like education and health to the families who are in pain due to the loss of their family members. “This support not only marks the beginning of cooperation between the Golyan Group and the martyr’s families, but also serves as a responsible parent,” he said.

Only the family members of martyr Milan Raya have not been included in the educational scholarship and health insurance program. According to the group, he did not meet the criteria of the program as he did not have children and parents. According to Golyan Group’s Corporate Affairs and Communications Chief, Gaire said that 2 people who lost their lives during the agitation were provided with educational scholarship and health insurance to 1.
