Lawmakers call for long-term solution to landless squatters’ issues raised in National Assembly

Kathmandu. The lawmakers drew the government’s attention to control price rise, create employment and seek a long-term solution to the problems of landless squatters.

During the ‘zero hour’ of today’s meeting of the National Assembly, they urged the government to pay attention to minimizing the incidents of caste-based discrimination and resuming operation of sick industries.

Kamala Panta demanded the government’s response regarding the preparation for resumption of the Gorakhkali Rubber Industry, which is the pride of the country. Lawmaker Jayanti Rai drew the attention of the government to make proper management for the landless squatters who were displaced in course of removing the encroachment.

Lawmaker Durga Gurung urged the government to address the problems of landless squatters in the long-term. Nar Bahadur Bista drew the attention of the government to bring a plan to create employment opportunities in the country by ending the forced foreign employment.

Narayan Dutta Mishra demanded the government’s commitment to protect civil rights and democracy. Lawmaker Bhuwan Bahadur Sunar urged the government to take effective steps to control the incidents of caste-based discrimination.

Madan Kumari Shah (Garima) said nobody should devalue the parliament. Yubaraj Sharma drew the attention of the parliament and the government towards good governance, controlling price hike and development construction.

Lawmaker Rajendra Laxmi Gaire suggested the government to be sensitive to the health sector. Sonam Geljen Sherpa demanded action against the vehicles breaching traffic rules inside Singha Durbar.
